The high-tech industry in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur is doing well, thank you
! !
In the beginning, a ingenious idea or a passionate inventor, today a company playing
a key role in its sector. In between, the capacity to find appropriate colaborators
and partners. Supported by a developed network of research centers and universities,
these companies are carrying Paca's flag far beyond Europe's frontiers.
Comex and Gemplus are two living examples of the vitality the regional high tech
sector shows.

Pioneer in deep waters industrial diving, Comex is now the
world's leader in human or automated submarine intervention, technology, and engineering.
It diversified its activities throughout the years and is now operating on five
continents and three oceans. |
Gemplus, the inventor and world leader in smart card and ships applications is
another regional success story. The Gemenos based company develops products and
solutions that are part of the day to day life of millions of people world-wide.
These companies are only two examples among many others.
Most of high tech companies are established close to the two main economic poles
: Nice and Marseille.
Technopoles are gathering and welcoming innovative companies on a same space.
Incubators have also been set up in order to provide an appropriate environment
to start-up companies. The one carrying a value added technology will find financial
and technical facilities and the required support for intellectual property and
patent protection.
As we see, localy established international groups are opening the way for smaller
companies to ensure the region with a flourishing future.
