Decoration and Architecture
Be it in the choice of construction aterials or in the design of the habitation
itself, the south east of France has a particular achitectural style.
The climate and geographic relief deeply influenced the architectural orientation
all along the centuries.
The Mas is a traditional
house from the south of France that reflects this evolution, most o the time,
it is a one floor house with a two sides, gently sloping roof. The slop is very
different from the one observed in rainy regions.

Outside living is important in sunny regions and the architecture takes it in
consideration with gardens, terraces.
The region also counts plenty of villages. They represent a cultural patrimony,
made of warm colours and narrow streets. The same influence is found in the old
neighborhoods of urban centers such as Vieux Nice and le Panier in Marseille.
Architects carefully preserve this heritage when renovating these neighbourhoods.
The sunny environment has a impact on the choice of construction materials, red
roof tiles, tommettes are widely used. They offer a cool athmoshere during summer
time.
Modern architecture integrates these elements and houses are now using soft energies
for heating and power supply, "clean" houses are the future and the
future is now !!
